Wireless Emergency Alerts

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), previously known as the Commercial Mobile Alerting System (CMAS) is an emergency broadcast system developed for cellphones that will allow you to get free emergency updates even when the cell network is congested. One can configure what alerts to receive, with the exception of presidential announcements. Below is a directory of major cell phone providers. Using the list you can find out what phones are WEA/CMAS enabled. Please note, the following list is not comprehensive. The Federal Communication Commission has more information about the WEA/CMAS progam as well as the master list of WEA/CMAS cell phone providers
