Welcome to the Overlay Regional InterOperability Network (ORION) website. This is an on-line resources for Public Safety personnel in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. The ORION network provides a regional Voice and Data Communications System, and provides a Command and Control capability for Incident Commanders and those supporting the incident. 


This is a voice and data network that provides interoperable communications for Public Safety Professionals and those who support Public Safety Professionals. ORION provides interoperable communication coverage throughout the Hampton Roads region and beyond Hampton Roads.

ORION consists of two groups. The ORION Steering Committee is made up of the decision makers and engineers who provide the guidance, support and infrastructure that supports the Public Safety members using ORION to manage large scale incidents through a Command and Control radio network. The ORION Advisory Group is made up of the Public Safety members from each jurisdiction and agency that are a part of ORION. The Advisory Group provides input to the Steering Committee with regards to the operational functionality necessary to support Public Safety Incident management on ORION.
